About DivorceWise
Last updated 2026-10-07
DivorceWise is an independent information site for people in the Republic of Ireland who are separating or divorcing. It explains how the process works, what it costs, how long it takes, and what happens to money, pensions and children, and it offers free tools that turn the published rules into your own dates and figures.
Who is behind it
DivorceWise is published by Codable Labs Ltd, an Irish company, and is part of the StampWise family of independent guides alongside StampWise.ie (Irish immigration) and SettleWise. It is not a law firm and is not affiliated with the Courts Service, the Legal Aid Board or any Government department.
How the content is kept honest
- Every guide names the Act or official page it comes from and shows the date it was last checked.
- Every tool reads its rules from a versioned configuration file with its own source list; nothing is hard-coded in a page.
- Figures that cannot be verified from a primary source are left out or labelled as what they are, such as a newspaper survey.
- A weekly check flags any guide or configuration that has not been verified in 90 days.
- Proposed and enacted-but-uncommenced law is kept apart from the rules that apply today, on the rule-change tracker.
What the site will not do
- It gives no legal advice and never tells you what to do in your own case.
- It sells no documents and offers no templates: a separation agreement is a contract about your whole financial life, and drafting it for reward is reserved to solicitors.
- It publishes no settlement calculator, because there is no formula: the court decides proper provision case by case.
- It never describes divorce as quick or easy.
- It does not publish user stories or comments: family law cases are heard in private, and that privacy is respected here.
