DivorceWise gives information, not legal advice. Nothing on this site is advice about your own situation, and reading it does not create a solicitor-client relationship with anyone.

What the content is

The guides describe the law of the Republic of Ireland as published in the Acts, the court rules and official guidance, with the date each page was last checked. The tools apply those published rules to the dates and figures you enter. A court decides each case on its own facts, and no page here can know what a particular judge will decide.

Figures

Statutory figures (periods, thresholds, fees) come from the named primary source. Cost ranges come from surveys and are labelled as such; they are not a scale of fees. Where a figure cannot be verified it is left out or marked “not published”.

Changes in the law

Family law changes. The rule-change tracker records what has been enacted, what has been announced and what has actually commenced, and keeps them apart. A page that was accurate when verified may be overtaken; check the date on it.

Your own case

For decisions about your own separation or divorce, speak to a solicitor regulated by the Law Society of Ireland. If you cannot afford one, the legal aid route is described on this site. If you are not safe, the emergency number and helplines are at the foot of every page.

Independence

DivorceWise is not affiliated with the Courts Service, the Legal Aid Board or any Government department, and no court, department or regulator has reviewed its content.
